OUR HOUSE SYSTEM

For pastoral, social, administrative and extramural activities, the High School is organised according to the three Houses – Griffin (yellow), Kraken (blue) and Phoenix (red). All students are allocated to Houses when they first join Dainfern College and siblings are always placed in the same House. There are weekly House meetings led by the student heads of House and a number of interHouse competitions take place throughout the year in which all students are encouraged to participate.

The legendary β€˜Lion Rampant’ on our school badge was the inspiration for the House names – all mythological creatures. The elements of Fire, Earth and Water are symbolised by Phoenix (the firebird), Griffin (half-eagle, half-lion) and Kraken (a giant sea monster) and House colours are therefore red, yellow and blue.

Each House has a House Director who is responsible for the leadership and management of the House system at Dainfern College.

Each student is placed in a House Tutor Group with a House Tutor who is responsible for the wellbeing and social and extramural welfare of the students in his or her group.
