ESTATE MANAGER

Dainfern College seeks to appoint an Estate Manager from 1 September 2026 or soonest thereafter.

Dainfern College is an independent English-medium, co-educational school situated on Broadacres Drive,
Dainfern, north of Fourways in Johannesburg. The College caters for Grades 0–12 and offers IEB Matric as the

This is a senior, full-time leadership role responsible for the overall management of the College’s physical
environment, ensuring that all facilities, infrastructure, and support services are maintained to a high standard
and operate efficiently. The Estate Manager will ensure regulatory compliance while supporting the needs of
staff, students, and the broader school community.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 8–10 years’ management experience in a similar role, preferably within a school or campus environment.
  • Hold a recognised qualification in Facilities Management or a related field.
  • Have proven experience in facilities, operational and contract management.
  • Have experience managing teams, contractors, consultants and service providers.
  • Have a sound knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety legislation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Have strong organisational, administrative and budget management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Have good IT proficiency, including Google Suite applications.
  • Be able to work under pressure, multi‑task, and demonstrate initiative and accountability.
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours in line with operational requirements.
  • Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Be experienced with procurement and tender processes.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic & Estate Development

  • Contribute to and implement the College’s estate strategy and campus development plans.
  • Oversee refurbishment projects, infrastructure upgrades, and new developments.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.

Facilities & Maintenance Management

  • Ensure all buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
  • Implement proactive and reactive maintenance programmes.
  • Oversee maintenance teams across the College, including those supporting the Sports Department and associated facilities.

Utilities & Operational Services

  • Manage utilities (water, electricity, fuel, gas) and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Oversee procurement of equipment, furniture, and materials.
  • Manage transport operations, including fleet management, compliance, and driver supervision.

Health, Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Chair the Health & Safety Committee and ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee fire safety systems, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure effective security systems, including alarms, CCTV, and access control.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and safeguarding requirements.

General Operations

  • Manage third‑party service providers and contracts.
  • Oversee campus operations for events, logistics and daily activities.
  • Manage insurance claims, asset control and risk registers.
  • Ensure effective coordination of facilities use, parking, and campus logistics.

  • Experience in managing and promoting musical activities, including ensembles, choirs, stage productions and eisteddfods.
  • Strong leadership and management qualities.
  • A commitment to overseeing and attending High School Music events and functions.
  • The ability to develop and sustain new ideas and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound computer literacy with additional skills in IT innovation.
  • Knowledge of preparing and managing budgets.

Dainfern College seeks to appoint a Principal for the Senior Preparatory School (Grades 4–7).
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing innovative
strategies that enhance the College’s academic, cultural, sporting, outreach, and leadership programmes.

A key aspect of the role is the ability to inspire, support, and continuously develop the teaching staff within
the Senior Preparatory School. The ideal candidate will recognise the importance of building strong,
