During the summer season, Swimming is a firm favourite in the Prep School, taking place in both the first and the third terms. We have a large number of enthusiastic students who select Swimming as an extramural and we are fortunate enough to field three full swimming teams each season. A programme is also offered for non-team swimmers, providing students with the opportunity to develop their swimming skills.
The swimming season begins with time trials and the InterHouse Gala, where each student in the Senior Preparatory has the opportunity to represent their House. It is always a great start to the season and assists in the selection our swimming teams.
The Preparatory School belongs to a friendly Independent Schools league that includes Under 9 to Open age groups. We take part in approximately nine league galas during the course of the year. Over and above this, we host the prestigious annual Night Gala for the A-team swimmers, where five league schools compete for the winners’ trophy. The highlight of this gala is that individuals receive recognition, in the forma of medals for the winners of each race. This event has become a calendar highlight for all participating schools.
Students have the opportunity to attend either early morning or afternoon practices. Galas take place on a Friday afternoon. We are also fortunate to have a number of enthusiastic and competent coaches, together with a highly qualified swimming coach, Robyn Wilkins.
