GOLF

Golf is an enjoyable year-round sport offered across the College. Our home is the Dainfern Country Club and we host the National College Golf Champs and Prep School Golf Challenge here each year. Our golfers have achieved considerable success both locally and internationally.

PREP SCHOOL GOLF

Golf in the Prep School is offered for the beginner in weekly golf lessons that take place with the coaching professionals at the driving range. Here a variety of basic skills are learnt by the players, providing a strong platform from which to grow their personal game.

For the intermediate golfer, Dainfern College competes in a Prep School league with matches taking place on a weekly basis. We are fortunate to play at courses such as Copperleaf, Bryanston, Randpark and even Ebotse amongst others. In addition to this, golf sporting tours have been enjoyed by the team in the past.

Scores are captured over the course of the year and added to the Order of Merit for Central Gauteng. Many of our golfers have been selected to represent the union as individuals and team.

A highlight on the calendar is the hosting of the Dainfern College Prep Golf Challenge in March which attracts approximately 18 schools from all over Gauteng and about 76 players. This Golf Day is thoroughly enjoyed by players, coaches, parents and staff.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Golf is a year-round extramural offer at Dainfern College High School and we have two teams that participate in the Gauteng league. Teams are selected based on talent and handicaps, not age. Our A team is in the A league and B team is in the B3 league.

Our teams participate in the Pecanwood Golf Champs and the Woodland Junior Masters in addition to other fixtures. We also host the National College Golf Champs each year, arguably the most prestigious high school golf championship in the country.

Dainfern College has a school membership with the magnificent Dainfern Country Club in the adjoining Dainfern Estate and we therefore are able to use their facilities on our practice days.

Our players have done very well over the years. Two of our students currently represent Central Gauteng in Golf and several of our alumni have gone on to play golf nationally and internationally.
