Interested in going on Exchange?

 

Here is some useful information to help students decide whether the Exchange Programme is for them:

 

WHEN TO GO:

 

  • The ideal year to go on Exchange is in Grade 10.
  • Ideal Exchange times:

– Term 1

– Term 2 – before exams

– Term 3 – before exams

  • You can also go predominantly over the April or August holiday in order to avoid missing academic time.

 

 

WHERE TO GO:

 

Decide on which countries interest you and where you think you may develop, learn and maximise your experience. We can also try to place you in a school best suited to your academic, sporting or cultural strengths and interests.

 

There are 200 schools in the Round Square network across the globe so the world really is at your fingertips!

 

HOW TO GO:

 

The application process begins in Grade 9. Students attend an exchange networking evening with their parents. Applications are then handed in as soon as possible with a list of your preferred five Round Square schools.

 

Once you have been accepted you will be introduced to your exchange partner and can start communicating.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

  • Must be able to catch up and keep up with missed school work as well as tests and projects.
  • Involvement in sport and culture at Dainfern.
  • Your 10 hours of Outreach per year must have been completed. (In Grade 10 you should have completed 20-30 hours)
  • Previous Round Square involvement (if applicable)
  • Representing the school’s values (FISHAR)
  • Highly satisfactory disciplinary record
  • Highly satisfactory attendance record
  • Completion of all pre- and post-exchange documents and tasks
  • You must show that you embody the 12 Round Square Discoveries.

 

CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION

 

  • Please understand that application does not guarantee acceptance on the programme.

 

Applicants who are accepted will be asked to host a reciprocal exchange student.
