The Grade 4 students have been exploring 'Dinosaurs' as their Inquiry Based Learning topic since the end of last term.
The concept of measurement was also incorporated into this topic.

The students used measuring tapes and trundle wheels to apply what they had learnt about units of measuring length and measured life size dinosaurs out on the field. They then measured some of our large mammals on Earth today to compare.

Finally, the students explored the concept of area by measuring and making life size dinosaur footprints.

During the August holidays, two of our violin teachers from our Dainfern College Music Department attended the Colourstrings 30th anniversary International Course in London.

Both Ms Melissa Witbooi and Ms Olga Maraba returned to school full of energy, feeling inspired to expose their students to up to date teaching methodologies.

Ms Witbooi wrote: "During the August holidays, we had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Colourstrings Violin Teaching course at University of Roehampton in London. Each day was spent in lectures focusing on a holistic approach to teaching. I am so excited to bring back new repertoire to our Violin department, build on what is being taught in the Music classrooms through the violin and go deeper this term developing our musicianship."
