Appointment of College Principal and Head of High School
The Board of Governors of Dainfern College is delighted to announce that Keith Fairweather has been appointed as the new College and High School Principal with effect from January 2013. We are delighted that Keith has accepted our offer and we look forward to welcoming him and his wife, Lindi, to the Dainfern community.
Keith is currently the Senior Deputy Headmaster at St Alban’s College in Pretoria where he is responsible for a number of aspects of the day-to-day running of the College, inter alia leadership development, discipline and staff development. Prior to moving to St Alban’s College in 2009, Keith was based in the KZN Midlands, fulfilling various posts at Michaelhouse, Hilton College and Maritzburg College.
We believe that Keith is well placed to provide the leadership that Dainfern College requires to ensure that it maintains its status as a leading coeducational school in a changing environment. Keith impressed with his passion for education and his obvious leadership skills. He is a graduate of UCT and KwaZulu-Natal and has completed the Wits Business School Leadership Development Programme. From our interview process, it is clear that Keith has strong people skills and has the interest, skills and values to guide all aspects of the development of our learners and staff. His management skills are evidenced by the success that he has made of his role at St Alban’s College and his responsibilities as chairman of the Independent Schools’ Deputy Heads Association.
Sport and family play a major role in Keith’s life. He has coached a number of hockey teams at all levels and has managed both the South African men’s side and the South African U18 boys. His wife, Lindi, is currently involved in school admissions and managing the school shop at St Alban’s College. Lindi is also passionate about children. They have three adult children, and his daughter is a pre-primary school teacher.
The Recruitment Committee were delighted with both the quality and quantity of applicants received. We received over 40 applications, of which ten were interviewed, being either current Heads or experienced Deputy Heads. The process was handled as quickly as possible without compromising professionalism or quality and we are very happy that it yielded the best candidate for Dainfern College.
