POINTS SYSTEM

A. Individual Achievement

1. Attains international/national examination grading:

(TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC, ROYAL SCHOOLS OF MUSIC, UNISA, ALMSA, ROCK SCHOOLS)

2. Achievement of Excellence – International/national examinations:

(TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC, ROYAL SCHOOLS OF MUSIC, UNISA, ALMSA, ROCK SCHOOLS)

• If a pupil attains a MERIT pass in these examinations, 1 extra Point will be added to the total.
• If a pupil attains a DISTINCTION or HONOURS in these examinations, an additional 2 Points will be added.

Please note:

• For categories 1 and 2 above we take into account only the pupil’s highest examination passed.

• For categories 1 and 2 above we take into account only the pupil’s first instrument. For every additional instrument, 1 Point will be added to acknowledge the pupil’s accomplishments.
  

3. National Eisteddfod Certification:

•  Diploma: 2 Points
•  Gold: 1 Point

If a pupil advances to the Regional Gala Concert, which means that a pupil has achieved the equivalent of Regional Representation, an additional point will be added. For every round thereafter that the pupil progresses to, an additional point will be added. It must be borne in mind that the final round of this competition is at national level and on a par with National Colours; it is therefore very difficult to attain.

Please note:

• A maximum of 5 Points may accrue from Diploma and Gold awards.

• Points only accrue for Eisteddfod awards and achievement in the current calendar year.
  

B. Participation in School Group Music Activity – Choir/Orchestra/Marimbas/Rock Band

 1. Attendance at Practices and Performances

2. Workshops

•  1 Point for each choir workshop attended – usually one per term

3. Behaviour

4. Years of Continuous Involvement

•  Years from Grade 1 included.
• Involvement in all School Group Musical Activities is recognised.

 5. Leadership Points

• 3 Points if HEAD OF CHOIR, ORCHESTRA or MARIMBAS 
• 1 Point if DEPUTY HEAD

6. Participation in Group Musical Activities

• 1 Point per Group Musical Activity (CHOIR, ORCHESTRA, MARIMBA, ROCK BAND)

PLEASE NOTE: If a pupil comes from another school, that will be taken under consideration.
