Our Dainfern Junior Prep is a busy, vibrant and oh so happy school. Each year sees our JP children exposed to many new challenges and excitements.

At Dainfern College the Junior Preparatory Department provides our pupils with a happy, secure, caring and structured environment. The Department comprises Grades 0, 1, 2 and 3:  small classes of 25 pupils, with the Grade 0s having an assistant, and a dedicated staff ensure that each child receives a quality, all-rounded education, creating opportunities for active participation in all spheres of school life:

  • Academic
  • Sport
  • Culture
  • Outreach

The education of our children is child-centred, emphasising the uniqueness of each individual. Our children experience the excitement and achievement of learning new concepts and skills through teaching methods that stimulate, motivate and encourage each child to achieve to his or her full potential, taking into account each child’s individual talents and needs. As part of the parent, child, teacher and school team, Dainfern College encourages our children to reach for their dreams. If you have not had the pleasure of visiting our school please know that you are always welcome.

On offer from the Junior Preparatory Department

Apart from the three core learning areas of Literacy, (incorporating English, isiZulu and Afrikaans), Mathematics and Life Orientation, our children enjoy many specialist subjects at the school. The children look forward to computer lessons as well as opportunities to showcase their creative talents in their art lessons. The pupils attend media periods during the week where they explore the exciting world of books and learn media skills. Movement to music, singing and instrumental play form part of our Junior Prep curriculum. During the school day physical education provides a wonderful opportunity to release energy, hone gross motor skills and have fun. Educational excursions are an important part of the child’s learning and such outings focus on a variety of topics.

The pupils have the opportunity to participate in a varied extramural programme incorporating sporting and cultural activities.
