The Red Blazer
Dainfern College honours are awarded to pupils who excel in Academics, Sport, the Cultural Arts, Service and Leadership. The highest award that the College can bestow on a pupil is the Red Blazer. The Red Blazer celebrates the achievements of those exceptional students who excel across these important areas of College life. To receive a Red Blazer a pupil must have achieved a minimum of full colours in any three of these areas: Academics, a sport, a cultural arts activity, Service and the Leadership Programme. These pupils are genuine all-rounders at the highest level, rather than specialists in one field.
In accordance with the Dainfern College tradition of celebrating all the achievements of our pupils, we award white scrolls to pupils who achieve at provincial or national level in activities not offered by the College. These achievements have to be documented by the relevant provincial or national body, as the white scroll is the equivalent of full colours for an activity offered internally. A white scroll for a sport is recognised for the purposes of awarding a Red Blazer on condition that the pupil has made a significant contribution to sport at Dainfern College by representing the College at first team level and receiving a minimum recognition of a team award. A white scroll awarded for a cultural activity is recognised for the purposes of awarding a Red Blazer on condition that the pupil has made a significant contribution to Dainfern College by participating in cultural events and by receiving a cultural award.
In addition to these achievements pupils will only be considered for a Red Blazer award if their conduct epitomises the values of the College, they have completed the required Outreach hours (10 hours per year) and their commitment to Dainfern College has been evident over a period of time.
