Gala Awards Dinner recognises excellence

The annual Gala Awards Dinner for 2017 was held on Monday 16 October 2017 at the Indaba Hotel. The event honours and recognises students who have achieved at an exceptionally high level during the year.

Guest speaker, Joey Evans, delivered a very inspiring message. He shared his life story, describing how he was told he'd probably never walk again, after breaking his back in a racing accident a few years ago. But this year, he completed the 2017 Dakar Rally, achieving his dream. And upon reflection, he says, his journey to the Dakar – something he shared with his family - was the richest reward.

With this in mind, Dainfern College recognised students who have achieved Full Colours, Honours and School Honours. It also proudly recognised the journeys of these achievers:

Coetzee/Gaffney trophy for Culture: Ewodwa Magqaza

Steven Porter Trophy for Enthusiastic Commitment to Sport: Nick Gillard

Sportswoman of the Year: Luca du Toit

Sportsman of the Year: Sahil Bramdhaw

Congratulations to all our 2017 achievers!
