Here at Dainfern College we offer our students the ICDL (International Computer Driving License). This qualification is recognised internationally in more than 140 countries, and a number of universities, colleges and schools either offer the ICDL, or recognise the ICDL for exemption or credit. On the ICDL website is an impressive list of entities involved with the ICDL.
The qualification consists of seven modules, and is not linked to any software package as it concentrates on skills rather than specific software knowledge. To achieve ICDL certification, the learners complete the following modules:
- Concepts of IT;
- Managing your computer, files and folders;
- Word Processing;
- Spreadsheets;
- Databases;
- Presentations; and
- Internet and email.
The value of an ICDL certification only really becomes apparent for the learners when leaving Matric and entering tertiary studies and the work place: the skills acquired will provide an additional edge to those certified learners leaving Dainfern College at the end of their academic career.
